| Important
to know
|
|
|
Things to keep in mind when you want to buy collared lizards or when you already own them.
|
|
| Below you will find some point I want to emphasize. Some points are better explained in their specific pages. | |
| ! | Collared
Lizards defenately need to hibernate {link}. Make sure they have a good
place to sleep. Don’t take this lightely.
|
| ! | They
aren’t very big lizards but they need more space then you would expect.
Collared lizards are very active. In the case of the enclosure
size
does matter.
|
| ! | Make
sure you own a terrarium that is large enough. If the collared lizards are
kept in a small enclosure they will deteriorate or won’t grow.
|
| ! | Transport causes stress. This causes a
calciumdefecit. Therefor
itis important to add extra calcium in their food. I advise to ad,
especially with young animals, calcium the same day or maximum the day
after transport. This can be for instance Miner-all. Trembling is usually
a sign of calciumdefecit.
|
| ! | Vitamin D3 is important for food intake. The
animal makes this in his body via UVB-radiation and/or supplements {link}
or through their food.
|
| ! |
Collared lizards are fun and easy to keep. Their behaviour and health depends on how they are taken care of en welzijn is sterk afhankelijk van de manier van verzorging. When bought as a pet for your children then don’t let it be on impuls and help young kids with the caretaking. This goes,of course, for every animal.
|
| ! | Make
sure you’re well prepared before you buy collared lizards. Gain
knowledge. If
things are unclear please don’t hesitate to ask me by email.
